Just got a recall notice on my '22 250 due to faulty ecu software.
Per yamaha "In affected outboard motors, the ignition coils may be energized while the main switch is turned on or, on certain models, may even be energized by power trim and tilt switch operation with the main switch off. This is due to faulty ECU software programming. If this happens, it could cause an ignition spark that might ignite unburned fuel inside the combustion chamber, possibly damaging the intake and manifold, while also increasing the risk of fire"

Old news, but worth a reminder.

I have heard that a lot of guys with new boats ordered were being delayed because of this software glitch. I have a friend that ordered a boat earlier this year and just had it delivered. The dealership wasn’t allowed to release the boat knowing a recall was issued. They new the recall, had the boat, and were waiting on the software so they could do the update. He was kinda agitated, but understandable for Yamaha, I guess.
