Spend the last 3 days on Murvaul with the folks from E Tx Crappie Masters series. This trail is from down around Houston I think. More SE Tx than CAT. They had a trip in February on Palestine and the weather was horrible so we didn't have trips and figured what the heck lets go fish it! Ended up winning that one and they said we were qualified for their championship. I've only been there a few times but its an awesome fishery. Good to meet some new folks that enjoy crappie fishing as much as we do and catch up with some old faces. I've never been there this time of year but figured 13-14 pounds a day would keep you in the mix! We prefished one day and caught fish all over. Kinda makes it hard to pick what to do but we had good fish in 3 areas and fished those both days. Ended up fishing 11-22' deep catching fish in open water and on timber. Day one found us in first place with 14.09 and we did a little better on day 2 with 14.25. Pretty solid sacks for August! We caught our fish on Slab Syndicate hand ties in Showtime and Bad Shad. I casted to fish with a 7' Jenko Trick stick and clay would pitch to them when we got close with the 11' Jenko Kevin Rogers series or the Jenko X15. For a spooky fish rod the X15 is nice!

It was good practice for the next 2 tourneys on Grenada in Sept! Thanks again to East Texas Crappie Masters for all the hospitality and the great food after weight in Saturday! Fried fish, frog legs, courtboullion! It was all great!! Hopefully see ya'll at a couple next year! Fishing is pretty good and Sept and October are filling up fast! if you want to get out after some slabs let me know! Thanks to all the great folks that help us out along the way. Awesome!! It's gonna be a hectic Sept and Oct for sure between tourneys and keeping my office going and guiding but I'm looking forward to it! Never been to Grenada this time of year. Looking forward to being able to cast to them big slabs with those 1/8oz Slab Syndicates!!!
