This tree/bush/shrub is about 10โ€™ tall with these pods and seeds. Both the pods and seeds are hard as hell. I had to use pliers to crack the pod. I saw the red berries/seeds on the ground so Iโ€™m guessing the pods pop on their own?

I'm no plantologist but Google image search says it's tamarind.

That's what our mountain laurel looks like.

Mountain Laurel. Tamarind pods are bigger and full of sticky goo on the inside.

Reality. What a concept!

We used to take those seeds when we were kids.. Rub em on the concrete real fast.. For some reason they hold heat like crazy.. We always thought it was fun to try and burn each other..

Texas mountain laurel - we call them koolaide trees because when they're in bloom, they smell like grape koolaide

Gorgeous evergreen trees. Love them. Come on down and you can pull up about a thousand seedlings from my flower beds. Those things are everywhere and they sprout like popcorn for me.
