Where is the gentleman that used to post all the catfish pictures from Lake Lewisville? Does he not post on TFF anymore?

I think the TFF is less for his absence. Chris is really doing well with his YouTube channel and he is very active on FB.

Chris is out there kicking big cat butts !!! Looks like he has picked up several great sponsorships. I know that on his livestream that he got a 58 and a 28 last week. El Gato is still around on FB and You tube, still teaching new stuff. His live streams show when he's on the fish and also when he struggles. Not just the meat pics. He's a great friend and a talented Big Cat Fisherman.

Heโs not the first big cat guy to quit the TFF. I wish heโd come back but I understand.

I guess I'm partially to blame for El Gato's disappearance. We got a little sideways on an issue here. I definitely miss his presence here. I learned a lot from him in a very short time. I'll always credit him for what he's done to educate me and other people about catfishing. Not just the mechanics of it all, but the ethics and the intangibles. We got sideways on a subject that we both agree with-protecting the real trophies of our waters and the future of what we love to do. Chris is very outspoken and takes a really hard stance on these subjects. I feel like I can sway people's opinions about it without hitting them quite as hard. Either way, we share the same goals. I think Chris' main issue with people overall was getting so much from him and not really giving anything back. He would've been much happier if more people would've let him know what they took from his videos. He works really hard (and I mean, REALLY hard) to make all that knowledge available to everyone. If you've ever been lucky enough to board the War Machine for a day of drifting, you've only witnessed about half of the work he puts in. The other half is behind the scenes. He wasn't looking for a "pat on the back" as much as he was wanting to see the results of what people learned from him. I know that every picture I've posted since the fall of last year I can attribute to him and Catfish Tim. Chris taught me primarily through his videos and Tim taught me from the back of his boat. I owe them both. They genuinely just want to help people be better catfishermen. Even though Chris and I's knot came untied, he's influenced my future in a very positive way. I'll always try to get people to see things in a different way than the way they were brought up. There's a significant part of the my generation that doesn't really understand the importance of protecting the trophies of our waters. When I was young, the guys I wanted to be like were the ones I saw in pictures with two dozen giants hanging from a tree. I didn't understand how long it took for those fish to grow to that size. I know that there are still a lot of meat hunters out there and they have every right to catch and keep fish as long as it's within their limits. I just know that one day, I'll influence some of those guys to start letting the biggest ones swim away. I'll let Chris educate the youngsters because he's really good at that!

Geno, you are a good man for posting this. Chris didn't leave TFF because of you or anything you said. Chris is a man of conviction. He looks at conservation as a matter of right and wrong, not one of differing opinions. And when he believes he is right, he does so fiercely. I, like many others, believe each person has a right to their opinion even if it doesn't match mine. Chris sees it as right vs. wrong, not opinion. I'm not being critical of him for that, in fact I admire it.
He and I are fishing an online tournament in 2 weeks. We will be fishing a lake neither of us have ever fished. I am looking forward to it. If you need an El Gato Azul fix, check him out on YouTube or Facebook. He is still out there getting it done.
