Learned the hard way. When trailer hitched plug goes in boat.

With me the plug goes in boat then trailer is hitched.

My dad carried a spare in his tackle box. The one kept in the boat was tied to the bolt that held the 20 HP Johnson to the transom. I asked him why we have two of them since one is tied on, he said don't ask.

thankfully never, it is the last thing I do before I pull out of the garage - I always take the tension off the tie downs, so I always have to tighten down both tie down straps and put in the drain plug, muscle memory after 30+ years...

Left it out at Fayette county. Parked the truck. Back to the boat water in the bottom. Flipped the bilge on. Decided to hang over the back and put it in. Should only get one arm wet. I was close to getting it in. Fell in the lake. My brother and the guys he was fishing with showed up. There were a few rain clouds around. Rained a few drops. One of them said “you get rained on?” Almost no rain on the ground. “I said yep”.

Yup, been there, done that.

Story time ! Got a jon boat slow leak . So after a few hours of fishing I got to drain it .this is half time for me and I go prep more bait and restock the cooler by the time I’m done the boat is empty again. One time while coming back my buddys are in there boat and grabbed my anchor line and had my boat half way across the lake laughing and talking smack. I start flipping out and cussing them out they manage to hear me say the plug is out ! They start panicking and manage to get it back to shore without incident even tho it’s over half way full of water somehow... [censored] 🤣

There are two plugs on my boat...

You'd think if you remembered one, you'd get the other, but thats not true...
