https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/m...-batter-consoles-distraught-pitcher.htmlDuring the playoffs to determine which team would go the the world series, a pitcher hit the batter on his helmet ear flap. The player went down but got up and went to first base. He noticed the pitcher was upset about it so he called time out and went to the pitchers mound and hugged him. Kids aren't all bad today.

The pitcher should've been the one to apologize. It shows who has better sportsmanship.

Need more kids raised like that young man is being raised! Absolutely! And yes, the pitcher should have initiated that. My son is in wrestling, and I’ve never seen such sportsmanship in any other sport that compares to wrestling. They give their all for 2 minutes and then joking, talking smack and buddies when it’s done. Gives hope for our future

There was a lot of criticism of that incident. People saying the pitcher was soft and that was his zone and that the batter should have gone to the mound to start a brawl and not a hug. Talked about how it was to go to the world series and that was not the time and place for all that soft non sense. Is that where we are really at now days? Or is that just some typical internet warrioring?

I was talking to my son (he's 28 now and was a pitcher when he played) last night when this came up. I jokingly said that I would have beat his a-- for being such a wuss if he had done what the batter did. Of course he came back with "Dad, you would have beat my a-- if I would have cried after beaning some kid". God I love my son.
Understand that he played select and was out there to compete for his playing time and trophies won. None of this everyone has to bat once and play 6 consecutive outs. My wife asked me why I watched this level of ball because they are not very good (sure there are some good ones but as a whole they aren't). And she laughs how the commentators make it seem like the pitchers are so good when they get called strikes when the pitch is 6 inches out or Little Johnny made such a great play or hit the ball.
I am all for good sportsmanship and playing the game right but this was too over the top for me. Even my wife was chuckling about it (and she is a bleeding heart liberal).
Just another example of the 'wussification' of our youth.

I was in an individual sport growing up. I played ball till my freshman year in HS when mom told me to pick one.
In swimming you are friends until you hit the water, then friends again when you get out. I thought the kid did a good thing.
