Y’all help me think something through……

I’ve ordered a foam cockpit floor piece from Dura-Dek Marine Products and my template came in today. The template fit is perfect and I’m very much looking forward to getting the carpet out of the bottom. My concern that I need some out of the box thinking help on is the wear that my heel has made on my existing carpet from using the hot foot. I own a Legend Alpha 211 so I don’t have the molded hard surface where your right foot goes like some other manufacturers have. What are some solutions that would help to prevent some premature wear in that spot?

They make Teflon cutting pads, like 1/16” thick. Cut a pad and glue (clear silicone) that sucker down to the foam.

Make a pattern out of wood. MDF works best. Make it whatever shape looks like you want it to look. Glue that wood piece to some 1/2 acrylic and use a flush cut router bit to make a perfect copy. Now have the perfect copy painted to match your boat and use it under the hot foot. Use your imagination. If you use clear acrylic you can paint the underside of it and the outside part will be perfect.

One day hopefully!! My kid graduates college in December then she has a few more years of graduate school. Maybe she can just buy me a new one once she gets complete with her schooling as big "Thanks dad!" Until then I'm going to have to make minor upgrades to my current boat.......that only costs me an annual insurance payment of some gas from time to time!

When you paint it add some grit for traction.

Double faced masking tape works great to hold(glue) a piece to a template while you route out a perfect copy...

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Yep. Cement tape too. But spray glue is cheap and easy.

There are a lot of products on the market that would work to thicken that area up besides wood. If it were me, I would not use wood to fix the problem,,,at all.
