Dobyns rods are good all arounds and you can catch them on sale often. They aren’t great worm rods though, just not all that sensitive. I haven’t used any of the googan rods, so I’m no help there, maybe someone else can chime in on them.

If you want really inexpensive, the Berkley lightning rod works just fine.

For all around, I'd look at the either the Fury or Sierra Dobyns. Its going to be a matter of how fast you like your actions thumb

Agree with grout scout-Dobyns are not great worm rods. Not sensitive in comparison to similar priced alternatives. That said, I think they are AWESOME for moving baits. I have one for squarebills (DC 704) and one for chatterbaits (DC 735cb) and those two are exceptional.

I'll toss another plug for Dobyns. What it lacks sensitivity it makes up for in in the balance and feel. Also customer service is exceptional. I broke one of mine by stepping on it. Used their no fault replacement program for a nominal fee. Mailed in the broken one and had a replacement on my door step in 6 days.

I’d buy a Falcon before either Dobyns or Googan.

I’ve owned several Dobyns, and they are good rods for moving baits. I tried a friend’s googan rod and it looked pretty but wasn’t well balanced and didn’t feel sensitive.

If I were buying a budget rod I’d get a Falcon Boo Coo or a Lowrider.

Between your two choices, Dobyns Sierra or Champion are good all around rods. But they aren’t budget rods. The Colt and Fury rods are sub-par for the price.

I have several Dobyns Rods and I haven’t had any issues and they are very sensitive and durable. Fish from a kayak now. Warranty is also great if you need it

I spend most of my time fishing the rest I just waste

Absolutely dead on comments. I agree.

I only use Dobyns Fury rods and find them sensitive enough for all kinds of baits (worms, moving baits, top waters, etc). Wait for the Tackle Warehouse Black Friday sale and you can probably catch them at 15-20% off.
