This is going to be relevant to very few, but maybe it will help someone. The cheek pads on my helmet were too tight. I tried to order new pads, but the helmet is no longer made by ILM. So I cut the stitching. Yep. Did it. Then, when pulling out the existing pad, I noticed that there were two pads one on top of the other. So, I pulled one off, which made it thinner and tried it. Then I went to the thinner pieces and put them in. Perfect. Sewed it back together and good to go. I thought I was going to have to shave the foam.

How old is the helmet? I have always been told they need to be replaced every 6-8 years.

Never heard of ILM helmets. Pretty good? Always buy Arai or Shoei. Yeah $700-800 is high but they are super premium.

Kudos for modding your helmet, I have no idea how to sew.
