I'm getting back into Inshore fishing. I have a Crestliner XF 189 which is a shallow water aluminum bass boat. Hey... It's what I have. I need recommendations for areas I can drift for trout and reds being pushed by the southern wind. I can't get onto the flats as far as I know. I'm installing a jack plate in a week or two but are there any areas around Corpus that I can drift in 2 feet or more of water? How deep are the flats around Humble Channel just north of JFK? Any areas around Aransas Pass? Thanks for any help. -Danny

I run navigational trips from POC/Seadrift to Corpus. If you are interested in discussing the details of what goes into our navigational trips, give me a call. Cell: 210-452-9680. there is also some info about it on our website. thank you

Watchman: The tides have come back up in the Coastal Bend. You could launch at Conn Brown in Aransas Pass, head down the shrimp boat channel till just before Hog Island, jump to the flats and drift with a drift sock for miles until you get back to the ICW. Most water between 2 & 3 feet. Depending on the wind(usually SSE), you could go to Corpus Christi Bayou, jump onto the flats at the Klondikes, and drift for miles to Estes Flats. The opportunities are limitless, depending on the wind direction. Good chart, drift sock, push pole, and you're set. Want some advice, contact Dean Thomas at Slowride Guide Service in Aransas Pass.
