I have treated 70K+ soldiers, Much of what has already been said is true, drink water, increase exercise and fiber, Magnesium and Miralax can help. The only thing I haven't read is to stop ALL Dairy for 7 days, thousands of people with chronic constipation, "irritable bowel", "bubble guts" turns out to often be lactose intolerance. Sometimes this occurs after taking antibiotics for something else that kill your normal gut flora. Lactobacillus acidophilus can also help, this is found in LIVE yogurts. If the yogurt is pasteurized the bacteria is not alive. If this doesn't improve or gets worse go see your primary care provider.

Yep - THis!!! Simply taking Magnesium daily may help you as well.

My wife's side of the family has slow moving bowl syndrome and our kids are on LINZESS 145 MCG to keep thinks going. I know it is a prescription med, but it may be something to talk to your doctor about.

I had a serious constipation issue after gall bladder surgery. The regular light weight treatments didn’t work. I took stool softeners and drank a bunch of prune juice. Didn’t work. Then the hospital gave me something called “the bomb”, and all the nurses smiled at each other, and yessiree they named it correctly. Apparently, The Bomb treatment is well known in the medical poo community. Might not be able to get it as an outpatient though.

As for the OP, I hope it all works out in the end.
