There was a report on either KSAT or KENS a few years ago with either pictures or video about this

Back in the late 70's there used to be large mats of coontail moss and duck weed all over the lake, and it being a power plant lake, it seems like CPS didn't like the weeds that much and those weeds disappeared what seemed like from one week to the next and never to return again.
Also the fact that the water that filled the lake was pumped from Braunig, and that water came from the San Antonio River which was downstream from the sewage treatment plant.
Not to mention both lakes are downstream of a major city where everything empties into the drainage leading into the San Antonio River.
Doesn't take much to connect the dots and use a little bit of common sense to see a pattern.
They say they monitor the water quality so that's somewhat reassuring? confused 3

Gator/s has been proven to be true as of a few years ago in that there is video posted on YouTube and also I think the local news station reported it as well.
There are now signs posted at the gate warning about gators.
I've noticed not many people wade out to their chest very much anymore, and most use a kayak to run their baits out instead.

Dropped a ring in FCL several years back. Me and a guy with a metal detector went wading/searching for it. I got a bunch of red specks on my legs. Fortunately, they didn't itch.

Be safe,

Scrub your nutz better…why would you post this in the fishing report area?

Even more laughable you ‘notified the authorities’. Sue em that should help…..

Maybe the special kayaking section vs the fishing report section?

I have also read a few years ago that the mercury levels in both lakes are high and they did warn that the average person should limit themselves to "so many ounces" of these fish. You don't want to have high levels of mercury in your body. I will not eat fish from either of these power plant lakes.
