Bad day on Lewisville. While backing off shore I hit something, probably a rock. Boat startes shaking and banging. Took it in to Plano Marine, Hope it doesn't take all summer to get back.
May have a bent shaft,

all you have to do is spin the prop and look at the shaft.. if its bent you will see it. shafts can be straightened, if you can find a person willing to do the job.. most places want to sell u a new lower unit.. good luck with it Ernest
this is why I run aluminum props.. very rarely will you bend a shaft or destroy the lower unit.,., aluminum props are cheap compared to SS.. U will lose a very small amount of performance, but if u hit something, you have to shell out 100 bucks, not a 1000 or more.
with this low water level, lots of things to bang into,, something else that protects the prop and lower unit is a hydro foil.. it is meant to help a boat get on plane faster, but the big bonus is the protection it provides.

Anybody got a lower unit for a 90 Yamaha in their garage? None available in the US. 10 available in Japan. Takes over 60 days to get here.
Guess I will be a guest if I get to fish for awhile.
Fortunately insurance will pay for it all.

Ernest, not that it will make you feel better but I once hit a rock pile coming out of Johnson Branch on RR going about 20 mph. We idled back to RR marina with the boat shaking like crazy. Adjuster said I hit it so hard the motor shifted off center on the transom ... hope your insurance co takes good care of you.

Were you @ Tower Bay ramp? I hit something there a couple years ago that flat tore up a Yamaha 150 prop @ idle, it didn't give abit.

There is one on the Dallas craigslist boat motor parts page really close to the top right now man. Listed at 1700 bucks and maybe better than the 60 day lead time.
