Does anyone have experience fishing the lower Pascagoula river/marshes south of I10?
We recently closed on a house in Gautier, MS on the Sioux Bayou, it looks to be about a 3 mile boat ride from the backyard boat slip to the Hwy 90 bridge where it opens up to bigger water.
I am fairly new to saltwater fishing in general and completely new to brackish water fishing, so obviously have a ton of questions.
I will be running my Ranger RT188 for now, but am actively looking for a 22ft+ Bay boat so we can go deeper waters on nice days as well.
What kind of fish can I expect to catch in the rivers, marshes & bayous throughout the different seasons of the year?
I have been told typical freshwater and redfish year round and specks in the winter months, but that basically everything bites better in winter months in the shallow rivers, marshes & bayous; I am not sure how accurate that statement is though.
What about blue crab, shrimp, black drum, sand trout, sheepshead, etc?
What about near shore, or south of Hwy 90 bridge?
What time of year should I be fishing for which species in shallow and near shore conditions is how to plan to start conquering learning this, any help or tips you all can provide is greatly appreciated, thanks!
