We headed out Saturday morning on a hunt for Rios. We found 2 that committed. Both in the 10in range.
They were both close to the edge on the bottom.


Leo caught his rio on a 1/80oz "Tiny jig". I caught mine on a 1/16oz solid orange JIGLYF jig.
Friends were, redbreast, lmb, bluegill and a redear.







The river is 15ft low and dropping. We need rain so very bad.

We have to drive down quite a bit to get to the water.


All fish were released to swim another day.

I didn’t know for sure about the differences between male and female Rios so I did some looking on the net. I found that the “Brahma hump” is indeed associated with the male. (nuchal hump)

“Males can grow up to 30 cm whereas females can only go up to 20 cm. Males have a taller body as well as a distinct nuchal hump”
