Do you know what kind of bermuda? Doesn't make a difference just curious. Treat it kinda like seed right now. 2-3 small waterings a day for 2 weeks. Check and see if it's rooted. If so do once a day watering for 2 weeks. Then do every other day for two weeks. Then you could space it out to watering every 3 days one watering(just play it by ear at this point with weather conditions) Do all these waterings between 6am and 6 pm. Don't water at night. Unlike us you will probably rainy days so account for that.

Fertilizer I would do smaller and more often feedings. If you find something like a 13-13-13 go 2.5lbs of product per 1000sq feet every two weeks. Do this until you're about 30 days out from it going dormant

Depending on how tight the sod was laid. If you have some decent gaps between the squares get some mason sand and fill in the gaps. When the sod fills in your lawn will be much smoother.

Somewhere around February I would get a soil test. SC soils vairy greatly. Once you get a test you can make a game plan for the next year or two.

Forgot to mention. Mow the hell out of it. You should be getting pretty quick growth running 3/4-1lb of Nitrogen a month. Let me know what you find and a pic of the ingredient list. As soon as it's at height you can mow with your mower setting do it. Then plan on mowing every two days. Maybe 3 days max. Do not bag your clippings. The more you mow it, it triggers more lateral growth vs vertical growth.

Not sure if you have irrigation but when I say light waterings depending on sprinkler types you're looking at 3 minutes a zone or so depending on the type of sprinklers. You don't want it waterlogged or holding/standing water, just moist.

I have always been told that you don't want to fertilize sod for the first 6 months. That the grass grower puts in a bunch of fert and adding more runs the risk of burning it out.

Any truth to this? I've heard it multiple times when re-sodding.

I've never heard that. If anything you would want to get a soil test prior and put down fert before laying sod. Using NTX as an example. Sod farm cuts the sod and you're left with the 1" or so of soil that comes with it and they cut roots. Now the roots are trying to get established in our soil which is hot garbage. You need to supplement that NPK to get root growth. The chances of you burning your lawn running 1/4lb of NPK every couple weeks is pretty close to zero after sodding. Where you can burn it is throwing down a ton at once, walking away and not watering it in. I do a 1/2lb of NPK every 4 weeks at once with no issue. Don't worry about what the sod farm did, get your soil in order and you're good. That's also why when you do a soil test they want samples from the 4-6" range and not the top 1".

Coff here is fert burn for you. Couple months ago and totally not thinking. My nitrogen is ammonium nitrate based and 100% fast release. So I spread my granular then went back and sprayed some products. So my wet boots were picking up the granular and crushing it on the leaves and I didn’t run irrigation for about 10 hours. Those are my foot prints you see burnt into the lawn lol

Typically around 14 days for the first mow. Reel mower is not necessary at all. Rotary is fine. My neighbor bought the Earthwise manual reel from Lowes a few weeks ago and really likes it. He uses it on about 2500sq feet.

Flip lets see some pics. What fert did you go with? I get bored and I need updates and love to track progress. Post up in the lawn thread. Lets go.

I wouldn’t fertilize it until next Spring, but Derek is the expert.
