Absolutely makes no sense that they would not be prosecuted. Maybe their parents reached out to someone and managed to get prosecution halted.
Hopefully no trail or organization including THSBA is allowing them to fish.

My other thought is that someone taught them to cheat. I would like to know who.

Found the cheater....

I guarantee you I am no cheater. I just was not thinking in the direction of it being theft. I was just having a hard time figuring out what charges/ punishment would fit cheating in a fishing tournament.

I'll say again, if they are allowed to fish thsba not one tournament guy should captain for any thsba event.

Hopefully "coach" above has some insight and is an accurate post.

That is another issue! That sort of thing is usually learned behavior.

Simple Google search would've given you a direction.

Texas fishing tournament cheater brought up multiple pages of examples

As of last week, the two individuals named have been permanently banned from competing in any and all THSBA events moving forward.

Grace. There should be consequences but a lifetime ban or a felony for kids. I forgot nobody else did anything wrong when they were young. Maybe a couple of hundred hours of community service.

^^^ My thoughts too ^^^

Sad that kids think cheating is OK and worse that this is a learned behavior, glad they have been banned from competition.

It’s a great learning opportunity. That cheating and breaking the law has consequences. Or should any way.

That was more towards the point I was making to start with and then I got hammered for my reply! When I said what punishment fits the crime, is everyone wanting them locked up in jail right there along with violent criminals? I think they should be banned from the future events and now after looking at it from the theft factor, should they be fined for all prize money that they have accumulated since the start tournament fishing?

to tournament fishermen there is nothing lower than a person that will cheat in a bass tournament it looks like in this instance they made the call not to prosecute because of their minor status which is kinda wrong because they would have taken grown up money if they had been successful an got paid on the tournament. it wasnt the first time cheaters got caught an it wont be the last some folks will do anything for money.
