I am just pointing out the hypocrisy of so many on here. "Send that thug packing!" How many on here have driven home after having one too many (remember, he blew a .066, not over the legal limit of .08) and their conceal pistol was in the console of their truck? That is what happened to this 'thug.'

Maybe he had smoked some of that weed before driving. A person can be charged for driving under the influence of anything that impairs the ability to drive.

Just my opinion. Class of '87 here. Police are doing their jobs. Kids will be stupid into their late 20's.

The biggest issue here is the gun. What the heck is he doing with a pistol in his car out at night in College Station?

Hopefully, this is a learning situation that he will mature from. I hope he is a good kid that made a very poor decision and he learns from the situation. To throw a kids future away for one mistake is pretty rough and I would doubt anyone on this board knows this kid well enough to make a judgement on his future from what is in the news.

Kids are stupid and do stupid things. Punish him accordingly and teach him to do better as an adult. If he doesn't learn from this, then run his tail off the team and don't look back. I will bet most people on this board have done something in their past they are not proud of and may have or may not have gotten caught.

All charges dropped. He did not pass the field sobriety test then was taken back to station to blow a .06 and change. Passenger claimed weed. Gun charge was dismissed because all other charges were dismissed.

Hope he learned something. Time will tell.

CSPD and University PD are an absolute joke. They harass athletes every year. Manziel got a PI on Northgate, Michael Clemons got basically the same charges against Smith last off season, Alex Caruso got hit with less than 2 oz of pot after having a phenomenal season with the LA Lakers while visiting CSTAT.

The .066 and .061 isn't an automatic dismissal of the DWI charge or that a person isn't driving while intoxicated. You have to look at the definition of intoxicated and apply it to the Penal Code Statute for DWI.

"not having the normal use of mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol, a controlled substance, a drug, a dangerous drug, a combination of two or more of those substances, or any other substance into the body;"

The guy has a right to defend himself. It's legal to carry a firearm in Texas as long as he's not breaking the law (DWI/Possession).

The passenger must have been the 3rd string deep snapper.

I wouldn’t call Dulles HS and Missouri City, Texas the hood in any form or fashion. And he’s not really a thug. Many people used to call Richard Sherman a thug. He was from Compton but graduated from Stanford with a 4.0. I don’t know many thugs who went to Stanford. Come take a ride with me and I can show you some thugs and never leave south Ft. Worth to prove my point.
