About to pull the trigger on forward facing sonar. I'm confused on the difference between Active Imaging and Live. Can someone enlighten me please? Also will it network with ahds gen 3 touch? Thank you

Garmin's version of "live sonar" is called LiveScope. Lowrance's version of "live sonar" is called activeTarget. Humminbird's version of "live sonar" is called MEGA Live

You'll need a new graph. Gen3 Lowrances aren't compatible with ActiveTarget. You'll need a Carbon or Live.

Kinda confused by your question, heck I think you are confused too.

Active image is the transducer included with most graphs, includes 2d sonar, side image and down image.

Active Target is a forward facing sonar transducer. Needs to be used with a Lowrance FS graph, a HDS Carbon or HDS Live.
