Going fishing somewhere in continental US in early October to celebrate birthday and senior citizen status. Where would you want to go that time of year? Already considering Green River below Flaming Gorge followed by eastern Idaho, or maybe brook trout in Maine.

Brook trout in Maine would be great that time of year with the color change.

Caught a beautiful 20 inch brown in the Little Red last summer. Been to Arkansas to fish many times and will return several more - looking for something a little more exotic for this trip - some place I may only go once.

Monster brookies measured in pounds sounds pretty good

I’ll probably be on the white river myself thinking about you. I’m looking for 30 inchers with big streamers though

How about stalking bonefish in the Florida Keys?

Silver Creek in Idaho is a "bucket list" spot. Tiny flies for picky fish.

So after some research I have ruled out Maine and Colorado. Maine stops brook trout fishing in the Rapid River on Sept. 15 and that is the location that interests me - hopefully next summer. Colorado has started canceling fishing on several rivers due to lack of snowfall this past winter. Think I am down to either Utah (Green and Provo Rivers) or Tennessee (South Holston River) with a stop at the Little Red on the way back home.

Not a bad fall back position.
