Recently purchased a BB1 pro. I still have time to take it back to Dick's. I was expecting it to be a very fluid reel as I have several other Lew's that are the mag force reels. But it seems like it was really tight. No matter how I adjusted the drag, it wanted to spool up. I was just wondering what your experience has been? Because I am tempted to just take it back and get a different model. But didn't know if you had had the same experience and if there is a small tweak that I can make. I also cracked the brake cover open, and the gear inside did not have any grease on it. But I wasn't going to touch that because it's brand new and if I was going to take it back I didn't want to alter it. Any thoughts?

Few things...
1- Take it back to Dick's and get your money back 2- Go to a sports store that is not anti-2A and get you a 13 Fishing Concept A or Concept C and call it done.

Never had an issue with the 5 that I have. But I purchased mine 7-8 years ago.

Lews seem to be hit or miss, I have some that I really like and they cast well. Then I had some that I ended up throwing in the trashcan because they were so horrible.

Take it back and swap it for another one. Something is wrong with that particular one. Mine have all been great reels and I have a bunch of them.

I have several BB1's I really like. I have one that was a gift that is just like you are describing. I have never been able to get any casting distance out of it.

I have several of the original BB1 Pro and the new version. They are all very smooth. Take it back and exchange for a new one.

Seems to be my experience as well with Lews. I have a couple still in the boat that have been absolute work horses but have since not bought any the last few years because they haven't been as good as others.
