Is this place supposed to even be open? Went down there with 22 foot boat in tow and it didn’t even look usable. Road was just wide enough to drive down, could barely get the boat turned around where the ramp is. Went back to Boykin instead

They might wanna consider closing that gate up before someone gets down there and tears chit up! You’d have one hell of a time if another truck/boat was coming at you down that road. Someone would have to back up to the gate or to the parking lot

Ha! I had no idea.. I was just wanting to put in somewhere else that evening without running across the lake. Would be nice if TPWD would announce that it’s no longer usable, could have saved me some diesel fuel.

It's not a tpw ramp. I believe it was a state or county ramp? Not sure but regardless, it hasn't been used in a long time

Last time we used Harvey was about 17-18 years ago. I'll never forget it because while I was backing the trailer in the water my dad casted off the back deck of the beached boat and caught a 7. Made another cast and caught a 9. That man was the LUCKIEST fisherman I've ever seen.

Got ya.. Either way, TPWD has it as a ramp on the Rayburn page. Also says fee required... LOL https://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/sam_rayburn/access2.phtml#areab

Just another example of how well your money is managed by TPWD

Harvey Creek Ramp has been a U.S, Forest Service Ramp and not a Army Corps or TPWD facility for as long as I can remember. It's been officially closed for a while although I don't remember for how long. Here is a link showing it is closed due to damage. If I remember correctly, the only TPWD ramp on the lake is the one up Ayish Bayou at FM 83.. Most are either Army Corps of Engineer or US Forest Service Ramps. There are some that are privately operated but not privately owned. I was just at Rayburn this last weekend and was curious if you could even get into the Harvey Boat Launch area. Looks like you have answered that question.
You are absolutely right, they should coordinate all the closures a lot better.

Rumor has it US Forest service to reopen Harvey Creek. New park and move boat ramp into cove.

Steep enough of a ramp and could be dicey in a north wind. I haven't launched there since the late 90's. I think it closed after Hurricane Rita (2005).

On the far side of the lake from me so not convenient to begin with.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

I was up there last weekend too, stayed at Lakeview on 147 and dropped in at Cassels Boykin.. Just down the road from you here in Pearland!

And yes, I'm aware that pretty much every ramp on the lake is the Forest Service or COE. I use TPWD to find ramps/marinas I may want to drop in at on different lakes, and it says "two lane ramp handles all boat types, fee required, and open all year." So I drove down there from Lakeview on Saturday evening to fish that area without running across the lake. After driving down the bicycle road hitting pot holes and tree branches with a 22 footer in tow, I had to turn around go all the way back to Boykin LOL

It's not a big deal or anything, but with diesel at $5/gallon it'd be nice for TPWD to update their information about it being closed thumb
