Besides buying downriggers, is there another solution to help get A rigs down deeper? My kids aren’t old enough to cast yet so we usually troll at Texoma, but with the Striper so deep in the summer we struggle sometimes. Any tips besides letting out tons of line and going as slow as possible?

If you put a one ounce barrel sinker above the rig it will take it down deeper. When I was trolling Texoma back in the day what I did was put two 1/4 ounce jigs spaced about 8-16 inches above a big lipped crankbait. When I trolled this about 2 1/2 to 3 mph it went down about 20 feet. I caught a lot of stripers doing that and did not lose many lures, as Texoma is mostly rock bottom. If you hang up you can usually get back out. Bomber fat free shad is the best crankbait in this color. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/07/full-75490-146347-fat_free.png) The downside of doing this is going to be that you will often hook three stripers at once but only get one of them in.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

What about using a hookless hellbender with a barrel weight in the front and the a-rig ties to the rear. Kind of like a hell pet setup except using an a-rig.

You can use the following, refer to the chart at the bottom of the link. You do not have to buy that weight, just weight of the same size. I have use this chart up north to catch trout and kokanee during the summer. All my trolling reels have built-in line counter, so getting the set back/line out is easy. https://northwoodsoutlet.com/product/redneck-outfitters-6-oz-trolling-weight/

You can use a jet diver. We used them at Calaveras to get down to the reds before downriggers.

Put a barrel swivel 3-4' above a-rig and just stack as many 2-4 oz egg weights above it as it takes to get to desired depth. If you're looking for 25' depth, troll in 25' water and let line out till you tag bottom at trolling speed, use a waterproof marker to mark your line for next deployment. Electronics should tell you depth of fish, line counter reels work great for this, works well for me
