Have a '94 Champion 176. It is in the shop right now so I can't measure but am looking at a deal to replace my broken Ulterra with an Ultrex. Problem is the shaft they say is 42". It looks like it should be a 45". My bow rides high and I am not sure that the shaft will be long enough. Anyone here happen to have a old narrow Champion and know how long the minimum shaft length should be? I am trying to look up finding a replacement shaft but am not having much luck. I hate to miss out on this deal but don't want to buy and find out it is too short

During the time your boat was manufactured 42โ shafts were the industry standard. I worked at a Champion dealership around that time. I set up a 206 for myself and put a MG TE82 on it with a 45โ shaft. Even that would come out of the water on windy days.

I think that may be a good idea. Iโm running a 60โ Ulterra now and love it.

54" is great if fish offshore much but harder when shallow in spring...hit a jerkbait a time or two on it

Just a question, Has anybody had a shaft changed out on a Min Kota for a longer one? Wonder what the approx cost would be?

I had a 184, 52" was the sweet spot for length, 112 fortrex. rarely came out of the water. you can always pull it up a few inches if need be.
currently have a 95/202 and put a garmin 57" on it. it's a hair long but no big deal and does not come out of the water.
