When hot or cold, we just have to adjust to the conditions to catch fish whether fresh or saltwater! Hot weather can = Hot fishing!

I had some of my best fishing ever last year in 2-4’ of water in August on J.B. Thomas in the middle of the day on top waters.

First day was 12:00 and hadn’t put a fish in the boat. Was mostly dragging Carolina rigs out deep. Was ready to hang it up and go soak up some AC.

Then saw 2 fish bust on a point. Trolled over and threw a top water. Caught over a dozen fish from 4-6.5 lbs in about 30 mins.

Went back for our working man’s 5 days later and my first 5 fish gave me 22+lbs. Pattern held for a couple weeks, never did find any deep fish.

Sometimes you just never know.

Good thing fish are cold-blooded. They adapt to any water temperature.
Caught 49 fish yesterday - bass, perch, crappie and sunfish from 11 am - 4:30 pm. Sunny day, air temp. 83 degrees. No rain for 3 weeks and the water was down 3' in the small shallow lake I fished.

is the problem to HOT for you to go. Because the fish will always bite somewhere on your preferred lake.

I lived in Wichita Falls, Tx for over 4 years and fished all year even in the hottest months. Back in the 70's there was no sonar to learn the bottoms of the various large waters and I didn't have a clue how to fish them. Good thing there were small lakes and ponds that I could do well in - even on 90+ degree days.

Hi, I am new to forum. I have struggled to catch small mouth bass in the summer heat. I fish in rocky areas. I found a great video on YouTube using the "snag free bottom bouncer" presumably with a worm or bait of choice. Looks cool, does anyone have any experience with this?

If I had to go today on any lake.. I'd just cruise around main lake looking for schooling bass. Have caught a few that way on several different lakes over the last month.. Monticello, Naconiche, Athens, and Lake of the Pines... square bills have been working by far the best in those situations for me. Haven't seen any big schools but sure beats most of the other methods I've tried lately.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
