I’m looking for a good travel rod/reel combo for my father in law’s 60th birthday. I’m a bass fisherman and know absolutely nothing about fly fishing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Looking to stay in the $200-$250 range.

I’ve heard good things about the TFO Blue Ribbon rods. They cost around $250. You’ll have to decide which weight rod to buy. I primarily fish for sunfish and small bass. My favorite rods are 2wt and 3wt. Good luck!

Before you buy anything, be sure to read the "sticky" up above!......."Every thing you wanted to know about fly fishing, but were afraid to ask!"
Is he experienced, or just a beginner?.....Lot's of options and you can spend as little or as much as you want, but it's good to know a little bit about it before you buy!

Just one more cast!

Also good to read RexW's older post on "Testing Fly Rods", not that you'll be able to test one. He's knowledgeable source. IslandJim
