Of all brain bleeds, if you're going to have one, a subdural hematoma is the one to have. They happen on top of the brain (between the brain and the lining covering the brain) not buried within the brain tissue which makes them much easier to access and drain. Also they are always venous in nature and are under much less pressure than an arterial bleed. They ooze, don't spurt.

I've done subdural drainages in the ICU at the bedside via drilling an outlet and installing a drainage system. I say this to help you understand that a SDH is easier to manage. They are very common in older folks who are on blood thinners and fall a lot.

Continued prayer for the family and your brother, Butch.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Thanks RayBob
His surgery went well, they did exactly what you describe
They drained 5 liters of fluid off his brain
He was talking & drinking water
Semi - wack but better than expected

Praise to God & thanks to y’all’s thoughts

Glad he’s doing well.
Really hard to imagine the hell Ratz goes through on a daily basis. Tough son of a gun.

Butch ... I have been offline for two years ... glad I checked in today so I can pray for your brother. This thread reminded me of the greatness that is the TFF. Praying for you both Butch.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.
