Have had a few minor issues with it but most of the problems were not related to the engine. I may be replacing it in the near future but sure like the fact that it’s been paid for. I have always changed the oil and fuel filters in a timely manner. So far so good with this truck.

The 2007's seem to have been much more reliable that the 2003-2006 models.

The trick is to find one that has been well maintained. If it has been modified, know who did the modification. They need an EGR delete (which are almost impossible to find nowadays, new standpipes and dummy plugs, new drivers side up-pipe, new OEM oil cooler, coolant filter kit to start, and gauges or a monitor to monitor EOT, ECT, and EGT's). Funny, all things I'm doing this weekend on my '04. Do not buy one with an open air element. The factory air cleaner on a 6.0 is one of the best designs out there for filtration and air flow.

I looked at one posted on here that I was told was in good working condition - turns out it was leaking a quart of oil down the engine block, chunks of something were coming up on the dipstick (open air element), shifter was falling out of the column, steering box needed to be replaced and brakes were suspect. It should've been listed as "parting out".

Everyone says their's has been "bulletproofed" - It is like when you look at a 2 stroke dirt bike, they all says "new top end".

Bulletproofed means different things to different people. The Excursions you sold me years ago now has 275k miles on it and it had simple modifications done to it. Never had or needed head studs because it never blew the EGR and it never ran with more than a 40 hp tune. Just recently put new up-pipes and new injectors. Still runs excellent.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 6.0 if I knew some important things about how it was owned and maintained.

The old GM V-8 diesel might give the 6.0 a run for this title.

When a 6.0 is worked hard, about 80K is where they break. I thought I had dodged a bullet with my '03 at 84k, and out of the blue, it blew a head gasket coming up a hill with 17 round bales on the trailer. I got a new 6.7 the next day, that was 9 years ago, and it has been great. I had around 60 of the 6.0's in our fleet at work, and thought that it couldn't get any worse until we got our 6.4's, now those were strait up turds.

I'm getting the general consensus here, that saving a little longer and passing on the 6.0 might be a wise decision.

Do you need a 3/4 ton diesel or is this a want? Personally I’d get an f150

I wouldnt buy a diesel unless I really needed one, everything is expensive and they are a pain to work on at your house. Their are rumors of a DEF shortage, that will be fun

Don’t buy a 2011 or 2012 6.7.

I have a 2011 and the engine blew out on me @ 156k miles.

Main bearing seizure was the issue and mechanic told me he sees about 10 every year replaced engine with a 2014 6.7 and deleted it and she’s still running strong.

When i had my welding business bought 2 new (1 tons) when they (6,0) came out hauling Welding beds and gear. Mine were P's OS. They (Sewell Ford Odessa tx.) took one back and gave me/traded to a 6.4. Wasn't much better. Took a pasting, sold them and bought 5.9 Rams. They never had a problem. Those 6.0's like to put me out of business being a start up small business at the time.
