Heading out to fish pass to fish the surf tomorrow (or is jetty better?) Should I throw artificials or live bait? Any recommendations for either? Went out on a private charter today with no luck. Would love to get into some trout and or reds. Have never caught either one. Thanks!

Would love to get into some trout and or reds. Have never caught either one. Thanks! Assuming FP on Mustang Island? Private charter & caught nothing? inshore(bay) fishing? Wow? Forecast for Saturday: Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. South wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 83. South southeast wind 18 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. South southeast wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 83. Southeast wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Independence Day: Sunny, with a high near 86. South southeast wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. With those wind speed forecasts & looking at the surf cam at Seagull Condos: I'd suggest fishing for reds & if room fish off the north FP jetty. Maybe head to Packery jetties. Use cutbait, fresh dead mullet, etc Use wire surf weights, or breakaways type weights. . If want to try lures in that water color & waves, either a silver/gold/copper 1/2 oz spoon or 3.8's to 1/2oz jighead with red/white or similar paddle tail plastic. Not a great weekend to fish, Forecast & one of the 3 most crowed beach weekends will make it challenging. Expect crowds and have patience. early morning & late evening until as late full dark can stand might be best for reds. Live croaker in guts might work, probably need 1/2oz or more weight to keep still enough for trout & possibly reds. May I suggest Port A south jetty, walk out a good ways cast out as far as possible on bottom w/mentioned baits, expect to get hung up when reeling in if don't reel fast & sit back and relax until a bite. Expect large crowds there as well. Again heavy weights, lighter leader than main line and bring plenty tackle. Just suggestions on your thoughts. Good luck this weekend.

Yes Port Aransas. I’m not hung up on fishing FP here was just a suggestion at a bait shop, I was originally think wade fishing. Where do you think I would have best luck? I’ve got tackle for surf or bay.
Yup private charter. Caught 2 short trouts and a bunch of hardheads in the bay this morning. Our guide was great and was calling around to multiple other guides and it seemed like no one had any luck unfortunately. Just one of those days I guess.

Understand about lack of bite, just surprised a bit. Using croaker?
