Anyone have any reports on the crappie bite at Fork or Lake Palestine. I was planning on checking both out this holiday weekend. Bridges, brush piles or timber? Minnows or jigs? Any information would be helpful.

I fished Palestine yesterday morning and the bite was good (heavy thump) right at daylight on jigs in open water around fallen trees. It didn't last long though. Brush piles didn't seem to produce yesterday that much. Fish hit structure and were hard to pull out. I'd have them come out and follow jig up but most wouldn't take and those that bit bit very lightly. Minnows might have proved a bit steadier though. Fish mostly caught in 16 to 18 FOW. I caught one in 22 FOW

I kept 14 for dinner a few nights. Lost quite a few and a few too small. Also 3 cats and two drum.

Palestine Lake
We went out Friday morning.
We were catching them at 15 ish ft on the 155 bridge.
Minnows
They were under the cross supports of the bridge on the shaded side.
The water was 88 degrees. Wind 5-10 mph Outside temp 90-100 degrees
