The fishing in Galveston has really turned on over the past couple of weeks. I have been mainly fishing lower Galveston and West Bay with live croaker. I have been getting some good reports from other guides that are fishing in East Bay and Trinity Bay and everyone seems to be doing good. That is typical during the summer months. We have less wind and more consistent weather this time of the year. As a Galveston fishing charter business we have to deal with changing weather year round, so it is nice to have some good weather. It does get hot out there so drink plenty of water,
Most of our trips have produced some real nice catches of speckled trout and a few keeper and undersized red fish. We are also catching an unusual amount of small sharks this year. I have been fishing over shell reefs mainly drifting with croaker. Some days have been outstanding and some days have been good to excellent. Of course we have that one day here and there when the fish just don't cooperate. Overall I would say the fishing this past month has been excellent. July should produce similar if not better results. Well until next time, I will see you on the water!
