Question for y'all.....

Anyone use a tokyo rig?.....I've been going out with 12 poles rigged with 12 different rigs..... Texas rig, Carolina rig, ned rig and crank baits squares, deep, shallow, swim baits, etc and
thought I should add another...out of the 12 poles rigged, the most success is a Texas rig with watermelon color in the last 29 days out...43 fish landed 70% Texas rig and 30% crank and chartreuse swim baits.

Wondering is adding would increase landing the hit/miss bites...

Most of the time, keeping things simple increases catch rates.

Adding another rig, especially a multiple part cumbersome rig like a Tokyo rig, creates inefficiency.

Caught some good 4+ lb fish on the Tokyo rig but it gets snagged more on rocks and timber than a Texas Rig.

It gets bit but I did away with all the wires & swivels and just tie a 3-4" dropshot rig but I'm doing it with 50# braid.

one of my favorite set-ups is Free Rigging.

Ditto...the rig gets all kind of hung up.

I've been drop shotting...well power shotting for years. 14-16 lb flouro leader with 2-4" tag line

Thanks y'all....I'll add a Tokyo rig to my 12 pre-rigged poles...I like leaving dock with all the poles rigged so I ain't wasting time with changing rigs while the bite is on....I will go through them if a rig is not producing. Of course if fishing with anyone, I cut down to 6 if two of us on the boat...I recently added a weight-less texas rig and OMG that has been a game changer if no wind.

Can you give some more details about this? What depth are you throwing this around? What structure?

Went out last Friday morning and absolutely wore my arm out using it between 0640 - 0655 between 10ft and the tullies 2ft with most in the 10ft range a lot of grass...landed 4 big girls and missed 3 during coffee swigs...landed 3 at the rear of boat dragging 3 inch chartreuse swim bait...while trolling the shore line til 7am. 7 fish in 15 minutes convinced me the weight less rig and the swim bait work for sure.

I’ve literally only have snagged one Tokyo rig ever. I usually fish them in rocks too. I typically fish it different though. I use two 1/4oz bullet sinkers butt to butt. I cast it out and let it get to the bottom and retrieve it like I would a swing head. I catch a lot of nice smallmouth doing this

I have very few issues with snagging them even in rock if you carefully crawl them. I really only fish them on pressured water (which is a lot of places these days). It gives the fish a slightly different look from what they are used to seeing day in and day out. I feel like I get a few more and a few heavier bites than a standard t-rig.

How is it any different in catching fish than the drop shot? It just seems like a drop shot made out of wire.

I have had success only on windy days. And when I say windy i mean 20 mph +. I have had problems in rip rap of hanging up. Just be patient and don’t jerk to get out.
