What I use is a Daiwa 7ā3 Tutula rod Reel Daiwa Tutula 6.3:1 Trilene Monofilament 14 -17lb line (I dislike Fluorocarbon)
When Iām throwing those 20+ Crankbaits, I use my Daiwa 4.9:1 reel. Much easier to crank them deep.

12lb fluoro 7'6" or longer rod. Whatever reel you have that has long casting ability.

Thanks for the replies... Looks like I've gotta invest in a longer rod. I've got 2 7 footers but it looks like i need another in the 7'6" range... Dan

Yes, you can throw a bait farther with a longer rod but if you are vertically challenged you may not like a longer rod/longer handle. I am 6' 1" but my arms are very long like a person that is 6' 4" so I like a long handle and I'm talking about the portion below the reel. Many 7.5' rods do not have a handle long enough to suit me. Case in point the older KVD Cranking rods were great rods for cranking big CB's but the handle below the reel was too short for my liking so I used mine once and threw it in the garage with the other 3 dozen rods I don't use.
