I wish there was a better way to label the circuit breakers. You get a small little place to write a general statement and what it controlled 40 years ago, but I’d like to have a way to better descriptions.

You could label your lights, plugs and appliances with the breaker number.

Mine were originally done with stickers by the installer. They are beginning to dry and curl up and are largely illegible. I try to write what they are when they fall off, but now I can’t read what I wrote either

If you really want to be AN.. about it you can type what is on each breaker by number on regular paper front and back if needed and have it laminated and hang it on a nail next to the breaker box....

Print a template on paper. There are many for all different brands of panels, Square D, GE, Siemens, etc. Print it and fill it in and post it near your panel. Do a search for "Breaker Panel Position templates".

If you really loved you mother in law, let her help. Give her a screw driver and tell her to hold it in the socket and yell when she gets a small feeling in her fingers. Let her know how much you love her and would appreciate her help.

I not only re-labeled our breakers, but I also took a note in my iPhone so its always saved to the cloud.
