I am talking about the HUK, Body Armor, Magellan long sleeved tees that supposedly cool you off.... I was given one, a Magellan, and tried it the other morning before my latest fishing fiasco....Pulled it on in the bathroom, and was sweating by the time I recombed my pitifully thin hair, and walked to the den...I didn't feel cool at all....just wet and clammy. Is that what these things are supposed to feel like, or am I just another crabby old man?....I cooled immediately upon changing that miserable thing out for a cotton tee shirt.

I agree, they are never as cool to the body than a cotton T shirt. However, they do dry much faster if you're in a wet environment.

I have some of the wal mart real tree, the long sleeve is for spring and fall when it is a bit cooler, short sleeve is there is a decent breeze in summer.
I mostly wear the open back magellan fishing shirts, much cooler in the heat since air can circulate and they dry fast which helps.

I like them when they fit me nice and tight. They really show off my guns.

I like the button front dry fit shirts. You sweat but you can feel them cool from evaporation. I'm a sweat hog anyway but the dry fit shirts do feel cooler to me.

They are designed to make you think you are cool when you have the high dollar shirt on (doesn’t always work).

They work pretty well if there's a breeze. If it's dead calm they make you hotter.

Man I don't know. I usually always wear the long sleeve ones with the hood. I forgot to bring one to work yesterday and fished Lavon yesterday evening in a cotton t-shirt. Thought I was going to die. Never again with the cotton.

As I talked with old timers that farmed, they wore cotton underwear, and flannel shirts with a big brim hat while working their fields every summer. Those old guys knew how to beat the heat. First off they told me that the first 30 minutes or so was rough but after you sweated real good and soaked those cotton underwear….those one piece type from ankle to neck types, then the flannel shirt kept them from drying out so in reality you had a full length wet towel wrapped around you and when a breeze did happen to blow across you, it even sent a shiver of cold throughout your body. Men back in the 1800’s wore wool clothing over their cotton shirts and one piece cotton underwear to make sure you stayed damp all day long. Those people knew what outside air conditioning was all about.

I do not wear them for the "cooling" or "cool" factor. I like the SPF rating they bring in a light weight material. They do dry quickly, and help to remove sweat from the skin surface. To each their own... otherwise everyone would have a ram and skeeter vs their ford pulling a ranger.

I wear the Columbia long sleeve ones when hiking and they work great - much better than any cotton t-shirt because they wick the sweat away and as bigrebar said they dry much faster. And keeping the sun off your arms is surprisingly much more comfortable. There's a reason desert-dwelling people cover up completely with light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.

This spf thing for clothes is something I question. I have never had a sun burn on my butt.
