Anyone know any Public lakes or smaller bodies of water in the DFW area that are kayak accessible that have matted vegetation? Punching is my passion but after living in the dfw area for a while i still haven't found a body of water that has sufficient Veg for Punching. ( just to clear misunderstanding from the less experienced , i'm not referrring to f/p (flipping & pitching ) timber or submergent veg with Fluro, i'm referring to thick mats (like hydrilla) on the water surface that requires 60lb + braid and a minimum 1 ounce weight to punch through.) Thanks.

South Lake Park. I used to go here because it was small and easy... I could go there and catch 5 to 10 1 to 2.5 pounders (mostly 1 to 1.5 pounders... but I have to think there are some old ladies in there).

The last time I was there (late summer of 2021) it was 80% matted vegetation. I stayed about 2 hours and left.

It might be too matted even for you... but you might also love it.

Wheeler Branch in Glenn Rose. As much grass as you could ever want, extremely clear water, and electric motor/no wake only.
