Got back Sunday from Truman lake in MO. We’ve been there a couple times now. Water was falling steady every day. Day one of prefishing I stepped right onto the boat from the dock an by day one of the tournament I had to sit down on the dock and jump into the boat! We found good fish the first 2 days of prefishing and figured it would be tough but if we could catch a few good fish in both spots each day we had a shot to be up there. One spot the water fell too much and those fish left and we never found them. The other spot we just didn’t see any good fish! We were in the right area day one as most of the top 10 was there. We just didn’t see the right fish and ended up tied for 22nd. Day 2 we started in the same area but it was a ghost town! We left there and just went fishing. Hit some stuff we liked but didn’t do any good prefishing in and there they were! We had 10.53 day one and 11.81 day 2. We figured we could catch our day 2 weight both days and better but that’s fishing! Did catch a couple hybrids just not the big ones! Had dinner Friday night with the winners at their camp and we got to see them catch the winning big fish! That one would have have us a day 2 weight of 13.20 or there abouts! Happy for them! That’s the biggest crappie he’s ever caught on Truman. 2.80! Truman is a fun lake. We will be ready to go back next year! I’m starting to book fall and winter trips. I love that time of year! July and august is so hot I’m not planning on doing much then!

Great report. A 2.8 lb from Truman is truly a monster crappie. Truman has any kind of water you want to fish and plenty of it.

Good write up. I haven't been on Truman since the mid 80's when I fished a BASS Invitational there. It was a great looking lake back then and the fishing was pretty darn good too!

It’s a big lake for sure Ken! We’ve been there 3 times and have never left the Grand arm!
