Mathematically.....
A person's vehicle is down to needing about 9 gallons of gas, they drive 20 miles to their favorite gas station, wait in the longer line than usual gas burning more gas. By the time they are at the pump they now need 10 gallons of gas. They save $1.80 by having the gas tax holiday, but spent an hour of their life (let's use the new $15 an hour talking point), and burned an extra gallon of fuel ($5 national average from the other day). That means that going to the pump to save themselves a few cents actually cost them $18.20.
I grew up where my dad would drive 30 miles to get gas 1 to 2 cents cheaper. He said it was the principle of the matter. I told him it was wasting money to make a point that no one would see or pay attention to. so your saying the apple doesn't fall far from the tree ????

I am waiting for Cliff to tell us all if this is a good thing or not ----- from what I have read , he is the only gas and oil expert of this forum and I can't seem to figure it out on my own

You want cheaper gas, address the real problem....
A wave of refineries closed in 2020 due to reduced demand because of the COVID shut downs. Now, demand is back to pre-pandemic levels—& those refineries are still shut.

Highways are infrastructure. A few months ago alleged infrastructure funding was so important that Biden and Democrats wanted to nuke the Senate filibuster so they could ram through his multi-trillion dollar "infrastructure bill". Now that his poll numbers are in the toilet and Democrats are headed for electoral obliteration in mid-terms...because of the policies he and they have enacted and repeated over and over...infrastructure funding is of so little importance that he wants to suspend the federal highway tax so he can buy votes with the money.
Liar. Hypocrite. Mental midget. Economic idiot. Utterly transparent. Destructive. Anti-American. He already disregarded national security concerns by releasing oil from the strategic reserve in an obvious but totally ineffective attempt to salvage his own political power.
Anyone who supports this devastation of our country and economy deserves what he gets.

If they give you a tax break its just raising the debt unless they cut spending. Since infrastructure spending is needed, it really just means a higher debt.
Some states have already started doing it and its popular in those states.
Me, I think we should balance spending so we should raise the federal gas tax. Not now but when gas prices fall off.
