To be truthful, as I've posted several times here, the police have no legal obligation for another person's safety. There have been 3 SCOTUS decisions on this.

Now morally the police response is plain sinful. If I was a parent of one of those kids I would have a hard time not shooting that police chief. I the very least he needs to be beat down on the courthouse square . . . badly. It pisses me off badly to think of those cowards!

Just like a doctor does not have to save anyone. But….if you don’t want to be a cop, work at Walmart. Don’t prevent others from trying to save lives.

I'm not arguing the immoral abstinence of action by the Uvalde popo. I'd say many police people are in there for the pay, benefits, retirement program and not out of a sense of duty to society. Plain and simple these cops were not warriors but just [censored].

As you know I'm a nurse although retired. I can begin to give a percentage of nurses that were there for the check only. Mostly the young ones. Way over 50%. I stayed at the bedside because I liked doing patient care and making a difference in their life/outcomes. As a charge nurse I was not really liked sometimes because I'd chew some azz and or write-up a nurse if they were derelict in their duty.

When you sign up to be a first responder and you do not respond in a true time of need, you're a pu**y and your family should be ashamed for and of you.

Toatly disgusting

I gave the boys in blue the benefit of the doubt from the start, surely any man with means to help those kids would have done so cop or not. The pictures of them cowering behind the wall while children are being murdered is simply unforgivable.

Not only was it unlocked, it can only be locked from the outside with a key. Excellent training huh?

Gunman goes in at 11:33. Three officers were in the building by 11:36. The initial shooting involved at least 100 rounds from the suspect. Multiple 911 calls from inside the classrooms from students pleading for help. Yet they stood by while kids bled out. They decided it was a "barricade" incident. By 12:03 there are 19 cops in the school. They do nothing. The shooter starts up again with more rounds fired at 12:21. They still maintain it's a barricade situation. Another half hour goes by before they go in. Unreal.

And yet we need to take guns away from law abiding citizens because these cops sat by for an hour and 15 minutes doing nothing to stop him. The gunman could have had a six shooter, a couple of speed loaders, and a box of shells and done the same thing.

The govt has "no duty to protect," but wants to take away your rights to protect yourself. I dont think so

Latest I read was the absence of an on scene commander.
Bunch of bull.
As a retired LEO, we were trained to immediately form up into a fire team of 4 men upon our arrival, then clear each room just as fast as we could run.
I mean we headed toward the threat like we were running on a rail… and then we killed the SOB.
We were trained by swat and they told us and showed us how to do it with no hesitation.
They told us, if we died, we died, and they would honor us at our funerals.

Absolutely no good can come out of the review of this event other than lessons learned for the future. Unfortunately, each time this happens its clear that most departments learn nothing from previous incidents

And it keeps getting worse. The husband of one of the teachers who was shot and dying tried to enter the class room to save his wife. He was an officer himself and he was detained in the hallway, had his gun taken and was removed from the scene. I wonder if the families could sue the commanding officer in civil court for gross negligence. Just unreal.
