I'm buying a pontoon boat and want it rigged out with live scope and GPS, what would you recommend, I would prefer a large screen. Also if you have a trolling motor recommendation that would be great. Thanks

If you're just going to use it for livescope & GPS get the GPS series - 1222 12" screen. If you want to have the capability of LS,2D, DI/SI look at the Echomap series - Ultra 122SV. Here's a LINKHere's a LINK to a really helpful Garmin forum! Not sure about trolling motors for a pontoon boat.

I decided to use a portable solution for my pontoon. I was conflicted about this in the beginning but after having lived with it for the last year or so I'm glad I made that choice. While 90% of my boat usage is for me fishing, we do have friends and family outings and it's really nice to be able to quickly remove my livescope and trolling motor. I have a separate DI/SI dash mount unit so I only use livescope when spot locked on a pile.
I have a 24 ft pontoon and have a 112lb 36v ulterra on a quick release. I'm not sure if I needed the extra thrust but I can say that I have no problems maintaining spot lock in the wind/wakes.
