My family has been here since the 1850's. That's not as long as some of you, but we've been here awhile. If you know where Woman Hollerin Creek is, you are in the area. I'd be against it. When I was younger, I was all for it. Seems to be nothing but inflammatory rhetoric now. Probably was then too when I was a brash youngun.

If Texas is successful at Seceding from the U.S., does that mean New Mexico no longer has to honor the water contract that is in place? If so, I would like our lakes to keep some of it and not have to keep sending it down the Rio Grande. I think we could work out a deal that Elephant Butte has to stay at least 15-20% full before sending water.... not the meesly 4% that is agreed upon right now.

How bout the Texas GOP doing something constructive like working to lower property taxes.  Taxes never go down. May as well get a tattoo of it, no greater truth.

Texas isn't seceding. We are barely gonna be able to keep Beto out of the governor's office.
Property taxes without a cap at what you paid is one of the worst ideas ever. We need to go to a state income tax.

I don’t think secession will ever happen. Seems like we have a choice between high property taxes or state income tax. Term limitations and politicians that take better care of our taxes may not be possible but seems more doable.

I am all for a property tax alternative, I cannot stand the thought of never actually being finished paying for something
Taxes penalize a person for prosperity in a lot of ways
Consumption taxes are the way to go , open to a state income tax or even a sales tax on real estate but hate that a retired couple in 70’s has to pay a dime on a property they paid off working their whole life.
BPP is also a sham tax , it includes physical inventory on hand but with that logic then a bank should have to pay tax on the pile of currency in the vault on Jan 1

We need to go to a state income tax. You never realize the benefits of this until you move to a state with low property taxes but pay a state income tax. I turn 65 this year and I will freeze my property tax at $755 a year. When I retire I will still have to pay a state income tax of 5% on 401k withdrawals.
He is truly a sick individual.
