I was 16 back then, I was pouring concrete that summer. It was my first job, I didn't know it was bad.

Winter of 82/83 was the bad winter, a freeze set in around Christmas and it stayed below freezing for 3 or so weeks. Fort Worth and Lake Worth PD were begging people to stop driving out on Lake Worth in their cars.

What's crazy is tomorrow is the first official day of summer.

We seem to be on-track for a 1980 or 2011 summer

I believe there were 50 or more home games when it was over a 100 when first pitch was thrown

I was in Oklahoma. We had the same there.

I was stationed at Vance AFB. It was a dry heat though

Both the Ft. Worth and Shreveport National Weather Service offices are saying the heat ridge should ease and a cold front pass through early next week, getting us back to near normal temperatures. In Tyler the average high for today is 91. We may get some rain out of it, too.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I feel like we are in a drought here. Hot and sunny everyday in the 10 day forecast.

I'll still take Texas summer over winter any day of the week.
There's a reason why I live south and it's not just for the tacos.

I remember being on Toledo Bend one day that summer and the weather report from the Jasper radio station was 108 degrees with calm conditions. I was 23 years old, 10 ft. tall and bullet proof back then. My how things have now changed. At 65 barely get out of the air conditioning. A couple bouts of heat exhaustion and damn near a heat stroke a few years back seem to have caused me to be waaay more sensitive to the heat.

I was in Austin for a sales conference in 2000 . We arrived a bit late and there was a golf event . I told the Executive in charge it was too hot and since we were the last foursome , we really didn't want to play .
He advised us we had to ---no way out . We teed off at 1:00pm , it was 110 and zero wind . By the 7th hole -- it was 114 . I drank 8 , 32 ounce gatorades and didn't piss once . Got to the hotel room and drank 3 more quarts of water all while being very ill feeling . Can't understand how people could live with that type of heat

Every summer I ask myself why I live in Texas. We live in hell.

Rationing of Gas was the summer of 1979 from what I recall.
It was hot then too, my summer job was working a jackhammer busting concrete for the Arlington water dept.

Yeh. Wasn’t sure. I remember being about the same time. My mom had the same car.
