When I choose a hook for a bait its not the length I consider so much as the diameter or the bait. If it is a long thin worm a 4/0 may do. If it is a thick bodied worm you may to go up to a 6/0. The Zoom Ole Monster is 10" but fairly skinny so I would use a 4/0 or 5/0 offset round bend hook. The Mag Ole Monster is much meatier. A 6/0 would be better for this one

Depending on the worm's diameter...yusually a either a long shank offset hook ( 5/0) or an EWG style 6/0 or 7/0. Two things to consider, 1) is the bite big enough for the worm's diameter 2) is it long enough for those short strikes

I have been experimenting the 5/0 Owner Haymaker and have now found my new hook of choice! Try and pack and thank me later!

5/0 owner haymaker if using 20lb+ and deep or heavy cover. Shallower and no cover I like a 3/0 straight shank

Agree, for a 10" Ole Monster I use a 4/0 EWG offset. Seems to balance the size of that worm. If I go to the Mag Monster, I switch to a 5/0

One of the wobble heads I use has long shank 5/0 hooks attached and have been a huge fan of those lately. I usually throw a Hayabusa 5/0-7/0 offset depending on length. I usually throw 10-14” worms though.

Two things to consider, 1) is the bite big enough for the worm's diameter 2) is it long enough for those short strikes This, I fished the SOT with 3/0 on 10 inch Power Worms and reeled in two bit in half, never boated a fish. I've also been kicking around the idea of rigging say a 2/0 hook further back on a leader connected to the primary hook up front so there is something in the mid section to cover those short bites as well. Something similar what they do with the old Creme worms. I fully beieve you have to get the hook right for the diameter but I also beleive these larger worms are subject to short or mid section bites and a bigger hook won't help in that situation.
