The wife has been wanting one for years and I finally pulled the trigger on one the other day. They aren’t really my thing, as I prefer fishing, but her and the kid are excited. Am I in for a good time or a headache lol?

You will love the room for sure. Get you a good trolling motor and you can fish out of them just fine, depending on what type of fishing you like to do. They can be a real pain when trying to load back on the trailer if you have a hard crosswind hitting you from the side. They are like trying to guide a floating kite onto the trailer when that happens. I have no problems loading when there is very little to no wind. I love mine and switched from a fish and ski boat, to the pontoon. No regrets so far. They are really smooth riding on the water also. Go have fun and enjoy !! For me, the good times far outweigh the few headaches.

They’re a headache. They’re called the minivan of the lake for a reason, miserable to trailer, don’t handle any kind of chop, catch wind like crazy, and they’re like a giant parachute when trailering.

My wife is trying to talk me into fishing off of it but I’m not feeling it. I may bring my catfish noodles and throw them out while we float so I can at least eat good lol. I guess I’ll pay this thing off over the next few years and by then I can pick up a bass boat since my son will be old enough to not need constant supervision. He has zero interest in fishing.

I would recommend not setting or running trotlines from a pontoon, if you do be sure to have a good pr. of cutters along for hook removal.

crappie fishin tied to a tree they are the schnizzle, drift fishing for cats as well, not bad for striper on texoma either.

Following with interest. Like the OP, we recently sold our boat and bought a tritoon. Ours is a SF and has fishing chairs, rod holders, and livewells. Haven't fished from it yet but we took it out once and I think it will make a fine fishing platform.

Loading is a little challenging. Remember to stow your bimini before leaving the ramp, otherwise be prepared to call Dallas Canvas Boat Tops...

Trot lines are a pain. I’ll just be using the pool noodles but I need to get or make some type of hook to reach down and pull them up with.

I’ve had, I think,12 bassboats. More than that if you count the ones I’ve bought just to sell. And I’ll always have one. But I bought a pontoon a couple years ago just to take the women and kids trolling for sandbass. I never thought I would say it but I love that thing. I have a good spot lock trolling motor on it, decent electronics. and a huge livewell. I haven’t experienced any of the downside listed above except for pulling the thing in a headwind sucks. It’s pretty great being able to take several people out and have room to move around. I’ll probably never be without one of these things either.
A friend of mine has a Tritoon with two 350 Mercs on it. He won’t let me drive it lol.

Twin 350’s sounds like a lot of fun. I could get used to that

I had one, easy to outfit to be a good fishing rig, but tough to maintain boat control. Like a billboard in the wind. Go overboard on trolling motor thrust, and it will help a lot. And invest in a couple of very large drift socks.

Grandkids didn't want to go like I thought they would, so I sold it and bought a dedicated big aluminum fishing boat. Now the Grandkids want to go on it, because it's fast. Go figure.

8 foot stick of 3/4 PVC with a couple 90's to make a hook. That's what I had, and it works great.

I don't get the hard to load comments. I've loaded them on trailers plenty of times in no wind and windy as sh,*t. Never had a problem

We love ours for cruising and pulling tubes and skiers when the kids come down... And I still have the bass boat for fishing... Dan
