With the record breaking inflation and CPI being insane, will the poverty line in America reach $50K + for a family of 4?

It was said to be $26,500 in 2021. But, the reality is a family of 4 will struggle to survive, in an urban environment, for less than $50K a year in 2022.

right now, I would bet that 30-35,000.00 is at or just below poverty for singles, 40k for family of 4.

I thought we were building back, from the bottom up and the middle out? Not from the top down……man.

I tell ya the other day I was driving through Mansfield and dang near rear ended someone stopped in the right lane...apparently there is a place that gives out food to those in need and not being from the area, I had no idea. That line was almost a mile long. It's crazy out there and sad.

Lots of places do that and lots of nice cars in those lines.

My grandson did some community work at a food shelter a few weeks ago. He said that the line of cars was unending. I asked him if most of the people looked like they really needed help and he said that at least a quarter of the cars were upper end and the occupants didn't look like they were hurting.

Democrats will just hand out more stimulus money to buy their votes.

Yeah, but I wasn't expecting it in this part of Mansfield...it was a really nice area, and yes, there were a lot of nice cars. We have had a few in Burleson and I don't know if they are busy or not. I see it posted on Facebook from time to time. I give to the food pantry on campus because I know a lot of college kids are food insecure (that's the correct term for going hungry nowadays). I remember being a 14 year old and having to dive into newspaper recycling bins on Mondays to retrieve coupons so we could have food to eat. The stores used to double coupons up to .75 and triple up to .50...heck, they'd even give you money back if you had more coupons than the total. It was awesome. That's how we ate. Except for meat and milk, if there wasn't a coupon, we didn't get it.

my wife worked at a food shelter for almost 4 years .They gave out approx $150 worth of quality groceries per person . As long as you had a drivers license from the correct ZIP codes , you could come once a week . This was about 1000 people twice a week .
They had a certain ethnic group that would show up in their Mercedes , Audi's , Lexus's cars and complain about what they were getting . She got to a point that she couldn't serve the others when this group was just trying to take advantage of .

I grew up for 10 years in Mobridge SD, right on the edge of the standing rock Indian reservation. Every month the Natives would get their monthly check and Gov't commodities and come to town and sell them. My Mom was a single Mom of 3 with no college education and limited skills. We were poor and lived in Gov't housing. She would trade with them for their commodities to stretch our budget. I ate a lot of Gov't cheese, peanut butter, and canned goods growing up. People will do what they have to do to survive, but you will always have those that take advantage.
