If you fill the bag with water and just burp the air out, leave the water in and freeze it like that they will keep for years and taste just as fresh as the day you cleaned them. The fillets stay completely immersed in water and are never exposed to air so no freezer burn.

What he said............been doing this for years with nothing but positive results.Probably have at least 30 lbs plus stored away at this momentcats, crappie, whites and hybrids, works on anything caught in freshwater.Don't do this with saltwater fish, fresh water ruins the texture of the fish

But removing the water increases room in the freezer for more fish in a given space. Less water in the bag also means the fish thaws out faster.

Never noticed a problem with salt water fish, including redfish, drum, gafftops, mackerel, snapper, and stingray. I suspect it might be a problem with seatrout and croaker.
