Congrats on a successful trip! Those carp were nice eating size. Sounds like carp can be legit on every level from food to sport!

On our scale the 1st fish was 18lb 11oz....lake record if official.

Thanks....looked like scar tissue . The caudal fin waa boogered up too. Figure gar or gator encounter, but that's just a total guess.

Great post. If you are looking for big ones, as an alternative, try fishing with range cubes as bait.

Thanks. I have seen your video on drilling and using range cubes. Been thinking of trying it out. Also, I really want to catch a buffalo.

That 18lb fish was on a heavier rod, and took 20 mins to get on shore. The 14lber I caught on a grocery store zebco 404/5ft rod that my son picked up. That took a while too.

On a side note I once captured a smallmouth buffalo with a v shaped injury on its back with several pounds of flesh missing(about the size of a decent capture in many forums here) otherwise it seemed to be a good fighter and acted healthy. Carp and buff can be resilient.
