I agree this is probably true
What sealant would you use
&
Should we invent a proper leg

About $300 or a little less, during the summer months, 2 AC units, with wife and kids home most of the time.

Kattelyn had a good point, that I didn't take into consideration either. We have well water out here and if the grid goes down, so does our water. Do I have a generator, yes. Should I put all my trust into a generator? Ehh, wouldn't think that to be wise. If a hurricane come through and takes out refineries for a few days, y'all know where fuel prices are going to be going. Imagine another Harvey coming in while Uncle Joe is driving the prices of fuel into unprecedented levels already.

Same here.

You get up on the roof with a hose. It isn't difficult.

And with anything electronic, the charging cells will degrade over time. You will get less and less power. Same thing happens when it's cloudy or there's a bunch of pollen or dust on them.

LOL, unless you have a hose like ours was in San Antonio. It was a 2 story home, but the attic was a full standup attic. No way we would be able to get up on the roof and hose them off. I would have put solar on that house, but we never planned to live there long. Had a couple neighbors put them on their roofs once the HOA removed the "No solar panels" provision from that communities bylaws.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

We have too many trees shading our house to make solar panels worthwhile. I mean, yeah, we could cut the trees down to clear the rooftop for solar panels, but then we'd lose all the shade that the trees give us and would have to run our AC units more to make up for that. Now if we should decide to move out to a more rural area with a few acres, then absolutely yes, I'd have an array with batteries installed.

If I was rich like Obama, I'd do the same thing Mr. Climate Action Plan himself did, and install a full house generator with a 2500 gallon propane tank.

You need the battery backups.

I guess you are smart until you aren't Kat. I am also in the sticks and have a 2000 sq foot shop with the south side roof I or nobody else can see. I am going to check it out.
