A couple of good restaurants in Port A are Tortuga's Saltwater Grill and Castaways. Avoid places like Moby Dicks and MacDaddy's.

Man, lots of great info in here. Dawg, you got me wanting to go check it out, too! I remember cruising on those ferries to Bolivar all day. just watching the wildlife go by. I also remember Mrs. Katlyn always going to Rockport and the great times she had down there.

Iām an ex Island resident, Padre island that is. My experience ranges from Sea Drift where Pat G lives down to S Padre and everywhere between. October through December are my absolute favorite months to be on the salt. School is back in session, and hunters are gearing up to hunt. Beaches clear out and boat ramps see much lower usage. We're heading to SPI this weekend for the first time. I expect it to be busy but figure the kids will have fun.

You should invite Ghost4BH, you two would do great together on a boat in the ocean. You can talk about US mail and your love of Old Man Biden while he ties an anchor to your leg.

We're heading to SPI this weekend for the first time. I expect it to be busy but figure the kids will have fun. Do let me know how you liked it We had a good time. We stayed in Port Isabel which is right before the bridge to SPI. We stayed in a gated community called Las Joyas. Small community of 25ish rent houses. Some people live there full time. Private pool/hot tub. Really nice rentals for a fraction of staying on the island. Ocean/bay side rentals which we had had great ocean views and can see most of SPI. You can also have great view of the firework shows a restaurant on the Island does twice a week. It was not near as busy as I expected. Only saw traffic once and that was Saturday from about 4-7pm with everyone coming into town, and never saw it backed up again. No wait at any of the SPI restaurants and all seemed to be staffed well. Service at all the restaurants was really good. We drove over to Space X(Star Base) one morning which is about 30 miles. It was pretty cool. You can get really close to the rockets. From there you could drive a couple mile and walk around Boco China beach. The SPI beaches were busy but there was plenty of place to chill and not be crowded. Beaches are very clean and water is great. Fish opportunities are endless either by party boats or guides. We did a party boat. Fishing was slow but had fun. We hit the Pirates landing fishing pier one afternoon and caught a ton of catfish and one small Bonnet head shark. Kids has a blast there. They have plenty of sunset cruises and dolphin cruises. The dolphin cruises was the one thing I saw that was packed. We saw plenty on our party boat trip. Not a lot of shopping options as I'm sure wife is into. They don't have an area like Galvestons Strand. Or if they did I didn't see it which is good as saved me some coin. All in all we had a really good time. I think if you went for a few days you would have a good time.

Been many times, from Galveston to Port Mansfield. Best seafood deal we found is the lunch at Red Snapper Inn in Surfside - crab claw appetizer and red snapper po-boy. Benno's and Cajun Greek in Galveston have good seafood selections as well, at sub-Guido's prices. The state aquarium in Lake Jackson is also worth an hour or two. Used to enjoy the airplane museum in Galveston but that has been relocated somewhere. Spot on for Galveston Rent you a beach house

we went to Port O Conner last year and really enjoyed it.
beach wasn't crowded, clean and shallow water for several feet. our Grand kids loved it.
