After Riley dislocated her knee in the second Round of the High School Finals, we took her to the Dr yesterday. Early indications suggest she possibly has 2 tears in her ACL. Setting up a meeting with a Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon and schedule an MRI. With fuel prices through the roof this maybe a good summer to be out

Best wishes for her. We dealt with a lot of sports injuries with the kids, even a few surgeries. It’s no fun

Did she fall during a ride?
Hope she has a speedy recovery.

No, it just popped out coming out of the first. They made a clean run but she couldn't get off Gator by herself

Sorry to hear that.

How much pressure does a barrel racer put down on their knee vs the weight of the lower leg hanging on the knee joint. Usually ball players have a lot of weight on their leg when the damage is done. After hurting my knee many years ago playing ball I have found that if I sit on a tailgate with legs just hanging off the knee will start to get sore. Not being a horse rider I have never given much thought to all the pressures that are put on a knee while doing so. One thing is for sure, once you hurt it you usually know it is there for the rest of your life.
Good luck Riley

Reading your post makes me curious ........Dislocated knee or dislocated knee-cap? "2 tears in ACL" isn't a typical diagnosis. Physical exam (Lachman Test) reveals laxity not number of tears.

If you saw just a regular MD I would be leaning toward a better outcome "diagnosis wise" from an Ortho.

Let me clarify her knee/knee Cap dislocated. While Justin Sports Medicine Drs who were working on her said there is a lot of stuff going on in her knee and said look it feels like possible torn acl front and back. Due to crappy we insurance we had to go to her regular dr to get a referral in order to see an Ortho. We will find out for sure once get MRI but those Justin Sports guys are good.
